The family also has a longstanding tradition of supporting the educational needs of the community.
Those ties are now even stronger with the recent appointment of Weber to the Washtenaw Community College Foundation.
Weber joins the board wellversed in the Foundation’s work with his service on both its audit and finance and investment committees.
Weber also brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the board as a seasoned professional in corporate finance. He currently serves as the managing principal of Onset CFO, LLC.
The Weber family knows first-hand the value of hard work and the importance of a college education. Early in the Foundation’s history, Weber’s parents, Roy and Carol, created an endowed scholarship — one that lives on today due to the support of Weber and his wife, Sue.
“A college education is crucial to economic success, but for some students, it has become a critical financial burden,” said Weber.
He notes that WCC can be an affordable entry point for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree — but also serves as a highly respected source for specialized vocational training.
“The WCC Foundation helps to make a post-secondary education a reality for anyone in our community who has the desire to advance their education,” Weber said. “Lifting the financial burden is vitally important to allow students to pursue their academic or vocational aspirations.”
Weber’s philanthropic work speaks to his family’s tradition of service to the community. He has worked in a variety of capacities with the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation, the Glacier Hills Board of Trustees, the Forest Hill Cemetery Board, the Washtenaw American Red Cross, and the West Side United Methodist Church.
“We are delighted to have Douglas on our board,” said WCC Foundation Executive Director Julaine LeDuc. “I greatly respect his financial acumen, but moreso, his dedication to our college and students. I look forward to working with him.”
